The Mahathikthakam Kwath Tablet is used to help with skin disorders and non-healing wounds. Mahathikthakam Kwath Tablet soothes the skin and gives relief from the itching, inflammation, burning, oozing and pain that characterise skin disorders.

Ayurveda And Skin Problems

According to Ayurveda, good health and well-balanced Doshas are characterised by glowing skin. So, Dosha imbalances create different skin conditions depending on which Dosha is involved. When the skin problem is caused by an imbalance of the Vata Dosha, it results in dry and rough skin that may have discolouration and nervous symptoms such as pain and prickling. A Pitta Dosha caused skin problem has a red or coppery colour and has inflammation, oozing and ulceration. Kapha type skin problems have a white or pale colouration with oiliness and itching. The primary tissue type or Dhatus that are responsible for skin problems are the Rasa (plasma), Lasika (lymph), Rakta (blood) and Mamsa (muscle) Dhatus. Other Dhatus may also be involved depending on the severity and length of the skin disorder. The buildup and interaction of Ama or toxic waste with the Bhrajaka Pitta or skin also causes skin conditions.

Western Medicine And Skin Problems

The number of individual skin problems number in the thousands. The skin gets adversely affected by irritation, allergies, infection or inflammation. This can be temporary or permanent. Skin problems can also be localised to one part of the body or all over.

Skin disorders can also be chronic or permanent. Some are present from birth or childhood while others present later in life. Many of these skin disorders cannot be permanently cured but are managed through treatment and have a high chance of repeated recurrence. Some examples of chronic skin conditions are psoriasis, vitiligo and rosacea.

Skin conditions can be genetic or caused by other factors. They can be due to infection by viruses, bacteria, fungus, parasites or other microorganisms. These infections can be transmitted from another infected person. They can also be caused by other health issues such as kidney or thyroid problems. A weakened immune system makes a person more prone to skin problems.

Psoriasis is one of the more troublesome chronic skin disorders. It is a genetic condition which is inflammatory and results in scaly patches and plaques forming in the scalp elbows and knees among other places. It is characterised by flare-ups that come and go and is not permanently curable. Since the disease is caused by inflammation it also indicates that the patient is at a higher risk of other health problems such as diabetes and cardiovascular problems.

Eczema or dermatitis is a genetic condition that is most commonly found in children and gets better with age. It is characterised by itchy and oozing rashes in the joint folds

Eczema (sometimes called "dermatitis") is a genetic condition associated with itchy, dry skin. It usually develops in early childhood with symptoms of a chronically itchy, weeping, oozing sores. Eczema tends to be found on arm creases opposite the elbow and on leg creases opposite the knee.

It is also found that inflammatory problems with the digestive tract cause skin problems. There are also skin problems that particularly affect people with diabetes. Lupus is a chronic disease that has symptoms that affect the skin. Stress and hormonal problems can cause skin issues.
