Eladi Tailam – Kottakkal Arya Vaidya Sala

Eladi Tailam is a classical Ayurvedic medicated oil manufactured by Kottakkal Arya Vaidya Sala, referenced in Sahasrayogam. Named after its principal herb Ela (Elettaria cardamomum / cardamom), this is a multi-herb formulation prepared in a sesame oil base with coconut milk as the processing liquid. Classically indicated for skin disorders (Kushtha, Vicharchika), chronic catarrh (Peenasa), and Kapha-Vata predominant conditions, Eladi Tailam is traditionally used for skin application, Shiroabhyanga (head massage), and body massage. It is also traditionally referenced for use as a baby massage oil, under physician guidance. For external use only.

Classical Indications

Eladi Tailam is classically referenced in Sahasrayogam for:

  • Kushtha / skin disorders — classically indicated for conditions associated with Kapha-Vata imbalance affecting the skin, as per Ayurvedic texts
  • Vicharchika — pruritic and exudative skin conditions, as traditionally referenced
  • Peenasa (Chronic catarrh) — conditions of chronic nasal and respiratory mucosa involvement, as classically indicated — applied over the head/forehead
  • Kapha-Vata predominant Twak vikara — skin conditions of combined Kapha and Vata origin, as per classical Ayurvedic reference
  • Shiroabhyanga — traditionally used as a head massage oil for scalp and hair, as referenced in classical Ayurvedic practice
  • Paediatric massage — traditionally used for baby and infant skin care under physician guidance
