The Heposem Tablet is an ayurvedic medicine for the liver. It helps regulate and improve liver function. The tablets can help alleviate problems that occur due to liver problems such as indigestion and constipation. It helps to boost metabolism and improve appetite along with decreasing constipation. It prevents any further liver damage as it promotes cell growth and function. It’s loaded with antioxidants that help eliminate toxins from the body to enable it to work optimally. The tablets are useful for balancing pitta dosha too.

Kerala Ayurveda’s Heposem Tablet is found to be helpful in the case of non-alcoholic steatohepatitis or NASH liver treatment. It’s also considered to be an ayurvedic medicine for liver cirrhosis. Since it’s hepatoprotective. The tablets can be useful in the case of alcohol-induced liver injury too. The tablets provide liver care for diabetics since the herbs used in their formulation help to regulate sugar levels in diabetics.

The liver plays an important role in keeping the body healthy and is one of the most vital organs in the body. The liver is responsible for absorbing and storing nutrients as well as removing toxins and pollutants. When the liver is damaged then it can lead to liver disease. Liver disease is one of the reasons for the rising number of deaths in the world. The deaths are mostly due to advanced liver diseases and can affect people of any age.

Causes of NASH, liver cirrhosis and alcohol-induced liver disease

The following are the most common liver diseases and their causes.

NASH is caused due to fat accumulation in the liver. People who are obese or overweight are more likely to get NASH. High blood sugar levels or high-fat levels in the blood are likely to lead to NASH. Insulin resistance is another risk factor that can increase your chances of having NASH. If you have one or more of these problems then there are high chances of NASH.

Liver cirrhosis can be caused due to numerous reasons. It can occur due to infection, chronic alcohol abuse, cystic fibrosis, primary biliary cirrhosis, and Wilson’s disease. Medications can lead to liver cirrhosis and so can autoimmune hepatitis. NAFLD can lead to liver cirrhosis too. Other causes of liver cirrhosis are iron buildup in the body, chronic viral hepatitis, and biliary atresia.

Alcohol-induced liver disease is caused due to alcohol misuse. If you binge drink, then it can lead to fatty liver disease and alcoholic hepatitis in some cases. If you drink more than recommended levels then it can lead to liver cirrhosis. Those who regularly drink more are at a higher risk of liver disease.

Ayurveda’s view on liver diseases

Ayurveda emphasizes the importance of the liver. The liver is associated with the pitta dosha and so any imbalance that occurs will bring forth pitta-related problems. In Ayurveda, there are five bhoota-agnis or digestive fires. These are prithvi, vayu, tejas, akasha, and apu. Each helps to digest a particular part of the food. The transformation of plasma to blood tissue takes place next. If there is an imbalance in the digestive fires then an imbalance will occur and the conversion won’t take place as it should. This can lead to other problems. This is when the ama or toxins can enter the body which can cause further imbalance.

All the functions that are mentioned and described above are the responsibility of the Ranjaka pitta. When anything goes out of balance, the skin and blood will be directly affected. This can lead to problems such as acne breakouts and other inflammatory skin problems. If the imbalance is still there for a bit longer then it can lead to various types of allergic conditions and other disorders. The problems include fatigue, hypoglycemia, hypercholesterolemia, and digestive problems. If nothing has been done yet until this stage then further imbalance will occur and serious liver problems such as jaundice, cirrhosis, and hepatitis can develop.

The liver is the only organ in the human body that has the ability to regenerate tissue that has been lost. Because of this natural ability to heal, if we just do enough to support the liver, then it can yield positive results. According to Ayurveda, it’s recommended to cleanse the liver, especially during the spring season. Cleansing can help remove toxins from the body and improve your health overall which is a major bonus. A cleanse consists of lifestyle and diet changes. It ensures that the excess of any of the three doshas, Pitta, Kapha, and Vata, are removed and your body can get back to the balanced wonder it’s meant to be.

You can try some remedies to help your liver. Eating your meals that are freshly prepared and always eating every meal is important. Sleeping by 10:00 p.m. is recommended and waking up early is helpful too. You can include exercise as part of your daily routine. Exercising in the morning at around 6:00 a.m. or in the evening at 6:00 p.m. is recommended. You want to focus on moderate exercises to balance pitta such as hiking, yoga, and walking. Try to stay cool most of the day as this can be helpful in balancing pitta and create a routine that works for you. Eating a pitta-pacifying diet and eating liver-supporting foods are beneficial too.
